It is not easy to describe Georgian culture with a couple of words. It is a very ancient country: the first settlements on this territory arose many millennia ago. In the country's museums you can see the archaeological finds of the Bronze Age, evidence of the existence of a vine-making culture that is about 8000 years old, jewelry, icons and weapons of different historical periods. Georgian national dances and traditional polyphony are unique part of the world cultural heritage. The architectural style of Georgia is a bizarre combination of medieval watchtowers, facades in the Moorish and Art Nouveau styles, Soviet mosaics and residential buildings, as well as ultra-modern buildings of the 21st century.
The Virtual guide for historic Black Sea Cross border sites and heritage assets has the goal to raise awareness about the necessity for the preservation of cultural and natural heritage. This is an interactive tool that will allow visitors to have a virtual tour in those locations and also discover their history and learn other interesting information.
The Virtual guide was created in the framework of the "Green Tourism and Historical heritage – a stepping stone for the development of the Black Sea Basin (GreeTHiS)" project implemented with financial assistance of the European Union.Co-financed by the European Union through the European Neighbourhood Instrument and by the participating countries: Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
GreeTHiS is a project funded by CBC Black Sea Basin 2014-2020. GreeTHiS brought together partners from 6 countries: Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Greece, Georgia and Romania.
The aim of the projects is to boost the development of green cross border historical tourism in the Black Sea Basin by promoting heritage protection know how, climate adaptation technologies in historic and protected buildings and facilitating the transfer of innovative business solutions between countries.
