Kobuleti Protected Areas

"Colchian Forests and Wetlands" one of Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kobuleti Municipality - Kobuleti Protected Areas, established in 1999, including Kobuleti State Reserve (331 ha) and Kobuleti Sanctuary (439 ha), is located in the North of the city, along the Black Sea, about 300 meters from Pichvnari Eco Beach. Ispani I is currently represented by semi-degraded, secondary plant groupings, while Ispani II is a unique sphagnum peat bog. Kobuleti Protected Areas' Visitor Center is also worth to visit, it is also possible to rent swamp skis to walk on sphagnum peat. Since 1997, Ispani II has been declared as a wetland area of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, which is a resting place for migratory and wintering birds. In 2021, it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
